Our Services
First Aid
Have you just received a diagnosis and don’t know where to begin? First Aid is here for you. During four meetings, we will evaluate your child’s abilities, develop an initial set of goals, and show you how to work with your child at home.
First Aid is a service designed for families of children who have recently been diagnosed with autism or other developmental disorders, or for parents who suspect their child has a developmental delay.
The program consists of four two-hour sessions during which an experienced therapist evaluates the child’s communication, receptive understanding, imitation, cooperation, and learning abilities. Then, a plan with initial goals is proposed for the parent to begin working on. The service also includes individual training for parents and observation of their work with their child, allowing parents to gain practical skills and confidence in teaching their child. Parents receive a written assessment of their child’s skills, a plan with goals, and additional activity suggestions. Most importantly, they receive guidance on how to effectively develop their child in the home environment.
